Waiting on Wednesday 08/05/20

Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme that first originated at Breaking the Spine but has since linked up with “Can’t Wait Wednesday” at Wishful Endings now that the original creator is unable to host it anymore. Either way, this fun feature is a chance to showcase the upcoming releases that we can’t wait to get our hands on!

The Russian Cage by Charlaine Harris (February 23, 2021 by Gallery/Saga Press)
I’m not going to lie, I thought there were a few stumbles in A Longer Fall, but I’m still having a lot of fun with the Gunnie Rose series. And this third installment sounds like all kinds of great action.
“#1 New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Charlaine Harris is at her best in this alternate history of the United States where magic is an acknowledged but despised power in this third installment of the Gunnie Rose series.
Picking up right where A Longer Fall left off, this thrilling third installment follows Lizbeth Rose as she takes on one of her most dangerous missions yet: rescuing her estranged partner, Prince Eli, from the Holy Russian Empire. Once in San Diego, Lizbeth is going to have to rely upon her sister Felicia, and her growing Grigori powers to navigate her way through this strange new world of royalty and deception in order to get Eli freed from jail where he’s being held for murder.
Russian Cage continues to ramp up the momentum with more of everything Harris’ readers adore her for with romance, intrigue, and a deep dive into the mysterious Holy Russian Empire.
#1 New York Times bestselling author Charlaine Harris (Sookie Stackhouse mysteries and Midnight, Texas trilogy) continues to ramp up the momentum with more of everything Harris’ readers adore her for with romance, intrigue and a deep dive into the mysterious Holy Russian Empire in the much loved Gunnie Rose series.”
Prince Eli? Oh well I guess it is short for something

Ooh nice! I still need to finish her Midnight Texas series. Fell behind in that one. Though this series does look fun too! Hope you enjoy this installment once you get to read it!

I’ve never read anything from Charlaine Harris. Not sure if her work would appeal to me, but I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying the series. It does appear to have some elements I migth enjoy (intrigue, mystery, Grigori powers).

I’ve only read one of her Sookie Stackhouse books before this series, I definitely like this one more for all the elements you mentioned 😀

I have to admit, aside from a few short stories, I haven’t read any Charlaine Harris but this series calls to me. 🙂

I’m super excited for this, I think I featured it last week. I’m hoping she gets back her mojo for this one!

I saw the cover right before I went on vacation a couple weeks ago so I haven’t been checking out blogs, but you probably featured it then 🙂

I still need to read book two but I sure did love the first one. However, I am struggling with these covers. The first was great, the second didn’t fit but I could live with it and now this one seems to belong to a whole new series. Oh well, I guess it’s what is between the covers. Who am I kidding? It’s also all about the cover 😉

Agreed! I just don’t get it with the covers. The second one didn’t seem to match the first one at all and now this one strays even further from the style of first two. Bizarre!

I’m a little surprised that we’re back looking for Eli after the way the last one ended. You’ll have to let me know how it is 🙂

Gah, I still need to pick up No.2. The books in this series seem to be coming thick and fast. Must read faster.
