Audiobook Challenge 2018: 2nd Quarter Update
It’s that time again. Summer is in full swing as the 2nd quarter of the Audiobook Challenge comes to a close, and that means another update on my progress and a quick rundown of the audiobooks I’ve completed in the last three months!
Challenge Details
- Runs January 1, 2018 – December 31, 2018. You can join at anytime.
- The goal is to find a new love for audios or to outdo yourself by listening to more audios in 2018 than you did in 2017.
- Books must be in audio format (CD, MP3, etc.)
- ANY genres count.
- Re-reads and crossovers from other reading challenges are allowed.
- You do not have to be a book blogger to participate; you can track your progress on Goodreads, Facebook, LibraryThing, etc.
- If you’re a blogger grab the button and do a quick post about the challenge to help spread the word. If you’re not a blogger you can help by posting on Facebook or Tweeting about the challenge.
Levels
- Newbie (I’ll give it a try) 1-5
- Weekend Warrior (I’m getting the hang of this) 5-10
- Stenographer (can listen while multi-tasking) 10-15
- Socially Awkward (Don’t talk to me) 15-20
- Binge Listener (Why read when someone can do it for you) 20-30
- My Precious (I had my earbuds surgically implanted) 30+
- Marathoner (Look Ma No Hands) 50+
This quarter I finished 13 audiobooks, which bumps the grand total of audiobooks I listened to this year up to 28. I’m now sitting comfortably in the Binge Listener level, and with two more quarters left to go, My Precious and even Marathoner should be a cinch. I hope everyone is doing well on their reading challenges!
Good work 😀

Whoa! I don’t know how you do it, honestly — I love the idea of audiobooks, but I get so impatient with them.

They get me through books so much faster, especially during busy times 🙂

Great job. I really wish I could listen to audio books but I don’t have the best luck with that format.

Yeah, I find the experience is highly dependent on the quality of the narrator.

Oh wow, I haven’t heard of this challenge! Maybe I’ll join in, I already listen to a lot of audiobooks but it would be fun to keep track throughout the year and push myself.
Great job with your goals!

Haha, there’s a challenge for everything! 😉 This Audiobook Challenge is one I do every year though, and as long as the hosts keep hosting it I think I will keep doing it. Yes, join the fun! 🙂

Whew, that’s a lot! I’ve only listened to one audiobook in my life (The Once and Future King), and even then it was after I’d read the book. 😂 I’m planning on trying some more audiobooks out (I’ve heard Red Rising was good?), so maybe I’ll join in someday. 🙂

Ah, I’ve never listened to the Red Rising audiobook…BUT I know the narrator is Tim Gerard Reynolds and he is AWESOME. 😀

That’s awesome! I don’t know the reputation of any audiobook narrators, so it’s good to hear you like him. 😀

You’re doing really well! I need to get a few audio cds of my favourite books for days when I don’t feel like reading an actual book. My collection stands at 13!

Nice! And speaking of CDs, I’m just glad most audiobooks these days are in digital format. Still, on occasion I find myself having to rip them to my hard drive to put into my phone/player, and boy what a pain that is!
