• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

The Never Hero51%: "Her impression of the man had been bleak from the start. Despite that she'd asked him to be candid about his personal relationship with the feamle of the house, she'd found his over-eagerness to share details about the relationship disturbing."

This week’s topic: Top Ten Of Your Auto-buy Authors (no matter the genre or what it’s about…you’ll buy it from these authors!)

Honestly, I don’t think I have too many authors now days that I’ll just buy any and every book they write. When I was younger, this was a thing, but as I’ve gotten older, it’s become less of a thing. This week prove to be somewhat of a struggle for that reason. So, I listed 10 authors that I’m highly likely to purchase their books no questions asked.

  1. Brian K. Vaughan
  2. N.K. Jemisin
  3. Ursula K. Le Guin
  4. China Miéville
  5. Greg Rucka
  6. Kenya Wright
  7. Rick Riordan (mainly because of my son)

Yeah, I copped out on the last 3 because I have no idea. Had this been about ten years ago, I would’ve had like 100 different authors on such a list.

  1. I’m not even sure I have 10 authors whose stuff I always buy. There are a few who would have been on such a list years ago, but they’ve written stuff that I’m not as fond of, or their quality has flagged a bit, and so I wouldn’t consider them auto-buys anymore.

There are a few, though. Not ten, but still a few.

    • When I was younger, I could’ve easily filled out a list like this, but now days, not so much. As you said, some old times auto-buys the quality has waned or either my tastes have changed. It’s very hard for me to justify most auto-buys now.

  2. Ooh nice teaser! Totally new to me read!

Not familiar with these authors, but sometimes it’s better to just have 7 autobuy authors. Think of all the money you can save by only having that many! Unless they write really really fast!

    Here’s my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. Gosh, I don’t even know how to answer that question… unless you count the many authors whose works I’m still catching up on. But UKLG is definitely on mine, as well as Kristen Cashore and Maria V. Snyder. Leigh Bardugo might have be on there now, too. I want to read the rest of her Grisha Trilogy now that I’ve read SHADOW AND BONE, and I’m really enjoying the ARC of SIX OF CROWS that a friend passed on to me.

    • It was a tough topic. I probably should’ve done the alternate suggestion and put in the top ten genres that I’d auto-buy in. That probably would’ve turned out better. Great list of authors, though. I really need to get on Snyder’s Poison Study, and I have the first book of the Grisha Trilogy. So many books. Geesh. LOL.

    • I wish I was still like that. I used to have authors that I would buy like that without regard to anything else just because their name was on it. I do buy many books, but as far as consistent auto-buys go… not so much…

  4. I love that Brian Vaughn is number one. I’m sure Saga and Y The Last Man are the reason for that.

Jim Butcher and Kevin Hearne leap to mind for me as automatic pick ups. But as you say – my list has changed over time.

    • Saga, Y: The Last Man, Runaways, all the BKV comics. Just leave me here to die in my BKV comic book feelings. LOL. Some people have so many authors they love and buy regardless of what the book is, and I used to be like that myself. Husband is probably relieved I’m not like that anymore. My bookshelves used to be stuffed to capacity.

  5. Out of all of your picks, I’ve only read Riordan – and I’ve only read the first 5 Percy Jackson books. I’m planning on reading his HoO series very soon though 🙂 As for the rest, well I’ve heard great things about Vaughan and Le Guin so I really need to check them out soon 🙂

  6. I’m glad I split my list with my co-blogger because naming five was enough. I am pretty picky and usually try a lot of different authors. though I do have some favorites. 😀

  7. I’m with Lisa – greedy! I wants all the authors precious. I actually considered authors that are no longer with us – but if they were they’d be on the list – like Tolkien, Pratchett, etc – then I thought that might be a bit macabre!
I had an easy 10 because even though I’ve changed my reading quite a bit I still keep my eye on certain people. Sarah Pinborough, Mark Lawrence and Neil Gaiman were the first three immediately that sprang to mind. I considered Sanderson – but then I thought, hang on – I don’t have all his books so I can’t include him!
A few on my list are not my usual reads these days but I just like the authors so much that I will still read them. Kate Atkinson and Maggie O’Farrell are two such authors.
And I just remembered that I forgot Sue Monk Kidd!
    Lynn 😀

  8. Brian K. Vaughan is a must for me too, although admittedly I’m pretty new to his books. I’ve read all the Saga TPs and I’m making my way through Runaways right now. One of these days I’ll read a book by N.K. Jemisin, I swear it! 🙂
