Lootz: Mogsy’s Book Haul

A few review books have come in that I wanted to feature this week, but it’s been a madhouse around here lately so I’m short on the time to talk about each book in the format like I normally do. Instead I think I’m going to geek out about some of the giveaway books I won this month. For some reason, I had a really lucky November or something.

book haul 12 I was most excited about winning The Relic Guild from a giveaway the author held on Twitter. This is a book from Gollancz that I’ve had my eye on for a looong time but of course there has been no US release date so far! I was a sad panda about that, so imagine my delight. Black Dog is something I won from Goodreads. Yeah, I’d always thought winning anything from there is a myth.  I had to look outside to check the skies for flying pigs. Talon and The Immortal Crown are books from the weekly giveaway hosted by Anya at On Starships and Dragonwings, and Shade & SorceressThe Unmaking, and Bone, Fog, Ash & Star are from The Last Days of Tian Di trilogy that I won from an author giveaway hosted by Tammy at Books, Bones & Buffy. My thanks to all those involved!

Endsinger  The Scar  Rosemary and Rue  Among Others

Legion Skin Deep  Jinn and Juice

And I also went on a bit of an audiobook binge, mainly because of the Audible Buy 4 get $10 promotion they were running for the month of November, so I spent a credit or two, scraped and scrounged around for any Whispersync deals, sales, etc. until I qualified: Endsinger (credit), The Scar ($4.95 sale), Rosemary and Rue, Among Others (Whispersync). Legion: Skin Deep was an Audible FREEBIE (go get it if you haven’t already!) and I couldn’t resist grabbing the Jinn and Juice ebook because it’s $2.99 and the print version won’t even be available until April of next year. I couldn’t pass that up!

  1. Oh that’s nice: You so need to read the October Daye series. I just love love love this series. The first one isn’t that good compared to the others so if it’s not that good you need to read at last book 2! ok? happy reading!

I find myself wanting the paperback version on Jinn & Juice, so I’ll likely be waiting for that one just because the colors were awesome and I want to see this cover in the flesh! Lol!

  3. Congrats on all your wins! I’m determined to win Anya’s giveaway one of these days:-) I have got to jump on the audiobook bandwagon. I think 2015 will be the year I finally try one!

    • You must! And if you’re concerned about the expenses, you can always try one by borrowing from the library. And I know how you feel about physical libraries, but the good news is you can do everything online – I get most of my audio reads from my library’s overdrive digital collection.

  4. Really happy for your Relic Guide win! (and maybe slightly jealous. Also waiting for a US release of this one!) Curious to hear what you think of Rosemary and Rue. I’ve had that one recommended to me, but by someone who doesn’t line up with me quite as often on books.

    • Well, I’m curious as well. I’m not too crazy about her Mira Grant books, but I’ve been assured that her UF is very different. I guess it also depends if you enjoy UF…I’m a pretty big reader of the genre so there’s a good chance I’ll like R&R.

  5. Grrrr, Black Dog…I will be interested to hear your thoughts on that one. I was pretty frustrated by the second half of it. HECK YES to Rosemary and Rue. I am so tempted by Jinn and Juice, even though I rarely buy ebooks (I prefer to sign them out from the library!). It just looks like a lot of fun.

    • Hmm, curious about Black Dog as well, but oh well it was a win so even if I hate it I can’t complain 🙂 And lol, add R&R to the huge list of UF series that I should have picked up a long time ago.

  6. A great November! I’ve only entered a Goodreads contest once or twice…maybe I’ll do it more now! And thanks for the tips about the free Audible book and the Peeler ebook! I went and got them.
