Onward!
Hello all, I’m back after a month’s break, and the time away has been very good for me! Long story short, life has thrown quite a few curveballs my way lately, and between the the demands of work, juggling my kids’ school schedules and activities on top of dealing with the stress of some health issues, I’ve been feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Needless to say, taking a step back has helped a lot. This period has given me a chance to recharge and focus on taking care of myself and my family. I also learned the importance of mood reading, letting my feelings and emotions guide me when deciding what book to read, even if it’s not a review book (after years of talking about it and swearing I’ll find time to do it, I finally got to read Dune!) and having gotten more comfortable with DNFing, the review pile definitely feels a lot less daunting.
And now I hope to return to regular posting. Granted, there will probably be some changes like fewer features and shorter reviews, at least for the next little while as I catch up on my reading. For the time being, reviews will be the focus. I have quite a few lined up, which I’m eager to share, and I look forward to diving back and reconnecting with everyone!
Be well, and keep walking to your own beat.

Welcome back! And yes, taking it easy is always the best way to handle things, even when we choose to do them for fun… 🙂

Glad to hear you are doing better. As well as reading Dune. Curveballs really suck, I somethimes feel like I am never going to revcover from some stuff that happened in the past year.

Yes, I’m so glad I got to read Dune! Had been on my must read list for years! Sorry to hear about your difficulties too, it’s tough.

I am REALLY glad you posted. If you hadn’t by the end of the month, I was going to shoot you another email. I’m very glad I don’t have to do that now.
I am also glad to hear that you’re going to be making changes. For the last couple of years you’ve been an absolute machine for posting and 99% of it was the mechanical stuff that wears bloggers out. Reviews, tours, etc, etc. It’s necessary stuff, but you really churned them out. So I am glad to hear you’ll hopefully be slowing down or changing some stuff. I also hope you find the right balance of how many people to follow.
Take your return in baby steps and don’t re-burn yourself out all over again, you know?
Cheers!

Yeah when life changes, you just have to adapt. I used to post daily and then work and kids going to school and having more activities happened. Posting had to be curtailed and now with more changes to my schedule it just made sense to try and adapt again.
Thanks for checking up on me! Means more than you can ever know!

Well hello there! It’s good to see you back again, and very glad to hear the break helped. I hope you keep narrowing in on that balance that’ll work for you, regardless of how different it ends up, and I hope life, itself, settles down a bit to give you those moments we all need to relax and breathe. And glad to hear you made it to Dune. I was a bit of a late comer to that one and I’m glad I was. I think I enjoyed it much more than if I’d read it too young. And I’m looking forward to part 2 of the movie. I thought they did a great job with the first one. Take care out there!

Thank you! This past month I’ve definitely been trying to get better at taking care of myself and listening to my feelings and emotions. I think I was doing too much and I was letting the stress and anxiety get to me and burning out. I’m so glad I got to read Dune as well, and just in time before the movie part 2!

Yay! Welcome back! Glad you enjoyed your break! Sometimes we all need one in order to recharge and feel the urge to get back to blogging! I know the past year or two I have been requesting less review books mainly as they tend to be digital and I hate reading on my kindle and I’m trying to get to my TBR books that have been patiently waiting on me all these years! Lol.

I need to learn to do the same! I just can’t help wanting to read everything though, lol. At least now I’m better at letting go and dnfing and that helps to not feel obligated to read every book from cover to cover 🙂

Glad you took the break and found time to reset and recharge. You’re right – our lives and the demands on them change and if we’re not careful, we just keep plunging forward and thinking we have to keep to the schedules we’d initially made when things were quite different.
I hope you are recovering from your health issues – I’ve learnt the hard way over the last 3 years that if you don’t have your health, then everything else rapidly falls by the wayside. But I also learnt to take each day at a time and live more in the moment. And to remember that reading happens to be my main hobby – I read for pleasure and escape. So the minute it stops being fun, then I need to sort it out.
Lovely to see you back, Mogsy and I hope you are now enjoying your books and blogging more:)).
