Most Anticipated Releases of 2020: October to December

Time to look ahead to the Science Fiction and Fantasy reads I’m most excited about in the months of October to December! Not only is it fun to organize my reading and to make lists, they also have the added benefit of focusing my attention to the highly anticipated releases that I’d like to check out. This year, I decided to try something a little different by posting a list every quarter to make the TBR more manageable. There’s already an impressive tower of books on my to-read pile, and while I’m under no illusions that I’ll be able to read them all, hopefully I can get to most of them (and also put some new books on people’s radars)!

So what are your most anticipated releases for the final quarter of 2020?

October

October 6 – The Hollow Places by T. Kingfisher, We Hear Voices by Evie Green, Five Total Strangers by Natalie D. Richards, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

October 13 – The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow, Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse

October 20 – The Mirror Man by Jane Gilmartin

October 27 – The Tower of Fools by Andrzej Sapkowski

November

November 3 – The Alpha Enigma by W. Michael Gear, Send Me Their Souls by Sara Wolf

November 10 – Secret Santa by Andrew Shaffer

November 17 – Rhythm of War by Brandon Sanderson, The Bright and Breaking Sea by Chloe Neill, The Children of Red Peak by Craig DiLouie, These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong, The Burning God by R.F. Kuang, The Silver Shooter by Erin Lindsey

November 24 – Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline, Call of the Bone Ships by RJ Barker

December

December 1 – Bone Chase by Weston Ochse

  1. So many good books still coming! I cannot wait for Addie La Rue, Rhythm of War and the Burning God!

  2. If I‘d have to name just one title, it would be Rhythm of War. I’ve been following that series since 2010, and this concludes the first part of the series. I need to restrict my arc requests because that one is a huge doorstopper.
Currently, I‘m reading the Sapkowski title, a historical fantasy – quite good, though it’s hang for detailed descriptions and names is a burden.

To this list, I‘d add a SF title „Ministry for the Future“ by Kim Stanley Robinson which will appear just next week.

  3. I should finish Addie LaRue today, it’s been so good! On the flip side, I absolutely loathed Tower of Fools so it’s been odd seeing so many rave reviews o.O Next up I think Once and Future Witches. I adore Ursula Vernon aka T Kingfisher, but I haven’t been able to bring myself to trying The Twisted Ones as I hear she’s a bit too good on the unsettling horror…!

  4. I’m reading Black Sun & Phoenix Extravagant now and will likely start The Once and Future Witches this week. I started begging for an ARC of Rhythm of War this summer, so fingers crossed there. Bone Chase sounds interesting, but definitely seems to be a love it or hate it title with early reviewers.

  5. I always enjoy seeing these long lists of great looking books to look forward to. But I’m a little bummed to be so far behind with Sanderson, having not even started the Stormlight Archive yet… I just find it super difficult to motiviate myself to start a super long series full of super long books… 🙂

  6. ” Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline” – WHAT?! I see a lot here that catches my eye. If only the day had 72 hours in it and I never got tired. =D

  8. Everyone seems to be struggling with December. How sad that there aren’t more good books coming out. Oh well, October has more than enough new releases right? I can’t wait for Secret Santa and The Children of Red Peak. I finished Five Total Strangers and should get my review up this week. I really liked it and it’s gonna get a 4/5 from me.

  9. Oooo so many good ones to look forward too – it’s funny how much I get sucked in by an intriguing title & awesome cover art. Will bookmark this because there are quite a few here I’d like to add to my ever-growing TBR, so thank you! xx
