Mogsy’s Pick
Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff (March 13, 2018 by Knopf Books for Young Readers)
I’m so excited about this one! It sounds like this third installment of the Illuminae Files will be picking up from the end of the previous book, continuing the sequence of events that began with Kady and Ezra on the Alexander fleet but now it seems Hanna and Nik will be brought into the fold as well. There’s also a really good chance I’m going to go with the audiobook again since I had such an incredible experience with the previous book in this format.
“Kady, Ezra, Hanna, and Nik narrowly escaped with their lives from the attacks on Heimdall station and now find themselves crammed with 2,000 refugees on the container ship, Mao. With the jump station destroyed and their resources scarce, the only option is to return to Kerenza—but who knows what they’ll find seven months after the invasion?
Meanwhile, Kady’s cousin, Asha, survived the initial BeiTech assault and has joined Kerenza’s ragtag underground resistance. When Rhys—an old flame from Asha’s past—reappears on Kerenza, the two find themselves on opposite sides of the conflict.
With time running out, a final battle will be waged on land and in space, heros will fall, and hearts will be broken.”
I just finished Illuminae this morning, Gemina will be put off a bit because of other books I have to read but I’m really looking forward to continuing the story!
And the cover of Obsidio looks absolutely gorgeous! Good thing I still have tons of time to read Gemina – being burried underneath my TBR-pile here, haha.

I had planned to read the first one but was put off by the format used to write it. Hope you continue to enjoy it though!

Yeah, this series takes the epistolary format to a whole new level. I can see how that could be a turn off!

I have beautiful hardback versions of the first two books sitting somewhere in my house waiting for me to pick them up. I LOVE the color scheme of this one and will definitely put it on my need-to-purchase list. I really enjoy special formatting in books so I’m sure I’ll like this series as well.

The hardbacks must be so pretty! I only have the ARC of the first book since I did the second book in audio. I’ll probably continue with audio for book three, but maybe one day I’ll pick up the physical set for my bookshelf 🙂

I knew this would be popular today;-) I’m curious to see this in person. These books look so much better than just the jpeg image.

March 2018?? That far away?? (((insert sad wail))) 🙂
I can hardly wait to see how the authors close this story: if the previous books are any indication, I will need to keep a few oxygen bottles nearby and remember to *breathe*!
As for the format, after reading the first two in electronic form, I bought the hardbacks (they are truly gorgeous) and plan on re-reading the story with them while I wait for book 3 – that I will buy directly in paper form, this time… Lesson learned 🙂

I know, so long to wait! And yes, the hard copies are beautiful. If the audiobook versions aren’t so damn good, I would have gone with hardback as well 🙂
