Waiting on Wednesday 12/23/15

“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that lets us feature upcoming releases that we can’t wait to get our hands on!

Mogsy’s Pick:

World of Warcraft: Illidan by William King: March 15, 2016 (Del Rey)

My WoW pick today is…ha, a WoW book. Yes, I am a big video game nerd and I like to read media tie-in novels of the games I play, and it’s high time we finally get a book about one of the most notorious characters in the World of Warcraft universe, Illidan Stormrage. The Betrayer returns as fans get ready for the next WoW expansion Legion, which is still a long way out, but in summer 2016 we’ll have the Warcraft movie to tide us over.

Illidan“An official tie-in for the highest grossing game of all time, World of Warcraft, focusing on the return of fan-favorite character Illidan.

World of Warcraft: Illidan is a tale of vengeance and redemption, appealing to both veteran World of Warcraft players and general fantasy fans alike.

Illidan has escaped his 10,000-year imprisonment and fled his home on Azeroth for Outland, an alien world dominated by the Burning Legion. Along with new demon hunter recruit Vandel, Illidan begins gathering an army, though who he plans to strike with his newfound might remains unclear.”

  1. Hope this Warcraft novel goes better for you than the previous ones!

Blizzard is probably my fav game company, however, I’ve never really played WoW. I did try it once; I dowloaded the it week before my last year of college started, and before I knew it, I logged in 30+ hours like nothing… when I noticed this, I quickly deleted the game because I saw nothing good coming from this in relation to my school work XD True Story

    • I hope so too! Sometimes it feels like the only WoW author I like is Christie Golden. William King is new to me, so I’m very curious. I hope to be pleasantly surprised 🙂

And yeah WoW can be a total time sink if you let it suck you in. I’ve played the game for so many years now, so balancing game time hasn’t been a problem for ages, but in recent years they’ve also added a lot of content and new game play styles that make it easier for casuals to enjoy without having to spend 24/7 in game now.

  2. I probably shouldn’t say this out loud here, but I’ve never actually played WoW O.O Can you imagine?! I know I’d love it though, it’s clearly a ‘me’ kind of game but for whatever reason I’ve never gotten into it. I do love media-tie-ins when they’re for movies or games that you’re already obsessed with…so you can let the obsession grow haha! I hope you get this one as soon as it comes out 😀 Happy holidays Mogsy and the rest of Bibliosanctum!! ♥♥

    • Haha, no worries, MMOs aren’t for everyone. I actually know plenty of gamers and geeks who have avoided that genre their whole lives! The thing that freaked me out the most initially was playing and interacting with real people in game – but once you find a good community to play with, it becomes the best thing ever 🙂
