#RRSciFiMonth Waiting on Wednesday 11/25/15

“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that lets us feature upcoming releases that we can’t wait to get our hands on!
Mogsy’s Pick:
Time Siege by Wesley Chu: July 12, 2016 (Tor Books)
For my final sci-fi themed Waiting on Wednesday of the month, I am wrapping things up with this follow-up to Time Salvager, which was a great book and I’m super excited to check out the sequel! It’s funny though, because I think the cover actually looks a bit “fantasy-ish” (am I the only one?) Regardless, the art is gorgeous, and I’m really looking forward to finding out what happens to James and the gang.
“Having been haunted by the past and enslaved by the present, James Griffin-Mars is taking control of the future.
Earth is a toxic, sparsely inhabited wastelandthe perfect hiding place for a fugitive exchronman to hide from the authorities.
James has allies, scientists he rescued from previous centuries: Elise Kim, who believes she can renew Earth, given time; Grace Priestly, the venerated inventor of time travel herself; Levin, James’s mentor and former pursuer, now disgraced; and the Elfreth, a population of downtrodden humans who want desperately to believe that James and his friends will heal their ailing home world.
James also has enemies. They include the full military might of benighted solar system ruled by corporate greed and a desperate fear of what James will do next. At the forefront of their efforts to stop him is Kuo, the ruthless security head, who wants James’s head on a pike and will stop at nothing to obtain it.”

I’ve not read any Wesley Chu but I definitely want to now!

I feel like I’ve posted this several times over here, but I need to start reading Wesley Chu!! Especially if it involves time travel. Also, I agree with you, the cover does look a bit fantasy-ish. Ancient arches and winged creatures and whatnot..

Yes! And like I wrote above, you should definitely give his Tao series a look. A very fun trilogy 🙂

AHHH I AM SO EXCITED! I loved Time Salvager so much, and wasn’t sure if there was going to be a sequel when I finished it. I’m so happy to learn that there will be ❤

Yeah, I was pretty happy when I heard there was a sequel too! And apparently my favorite character Levin was going to feature more in the next book. Very exciting 🙂

Time Salvager is on my tbr shelf but I haven’t gotten around to it yet – I definitely want to soon! You’re right that the cover sort of has a fantasy vibe to it but I think it works for sci-fi too. In any case, it looks awesome 🙂 I hope that you’ll get your hands on it asap and that it’ll deliver!!

Yes, I want this. I think the broken arches in the pic have a bit of a medieval look (maybe?) and thats why it has a bit of a fantasy look?

I saw a post from Brain McClellan on Sunday, and it said Chu had a 25% discount code for the whole Tao trilogy on his site, and it already only $24! So very very tempted to pick it up.

I have to say I really like Chu – I loved the Tao series and I think it’s really good that he walking away from such a successful series and then came up with something that feels so unique.
So looking forward to this.
