Love that quote. I actually thought Rothfuss was a musician, as he talks about music the way a musician does. Such a great book.

I love the way he writes about music and the feelings and emotions it can elicit. It’s surprising that he isn’t a musician himself, but clearly he appreciates the skill of those who can create such magic.

Yes that appreciation is clear. Even in the great detail he describes the bond between person and instrument. Which isnt something that is written about a lot even by musicians.

Indeed. It was my one disappointment with Hisses and Wings, which put so much emphasis on the connection between music, emotion, and magic, but lacked the depth of description that Rothfuss provides. It’s been interesting reading those two so closely together.

I have never read Hisses and Wings but I read something ages ago in which music was related to power and magic. I forget what it was called but i remember being unable to finish it.
