#SciFiMonth Friday Face-Off: A Black Hole

This week’s theme is:
~ a cover featuring a BLACK HOLE

If this theme feels familiar it’s because I’ve done a variation of it before, and believe me, I was as stumped as I felt the last time around! Instead of the “deep in the ground” interpretation though, today I’ve decided to go with the space interpretation, it being Sci-Fi Month and all. Technically I haven’t read Broken Stars in its entirety, but I have checked out a couple of the stories, and quite honestly, it was the only book on my shelf that even came close to matching this week’s theme.

I’m not really sure why Head of Zeus had two different editions released in the same year on what I believe was the same date, but maybe one was print and one was digital? Whatever the case, I’m glad it happened, because the second version is absolutely gorgeous. That’s definitely my favorite this week.

That’s way better than the rather depressing or horrific interpretation of going into the ground. I‘ll take any literal black hole before that one!

Yes, I remember the book I chose for the “in the ground” black hole topic too, and it did happen to be a rather depressing/horrific book!

I’m stuck on both of the Head of Zeus versions. I agree with you: The one you picked is gorgeous. But I also really like version 1 as attractive in a monochromatic way. So for me it’s a tie.

I feel like this theme was a repeat so I just skipped today. But I agree! Actually both Head of Zeus editions are really good!

Well, considering how we’re talking about something that can’t be directly seen I’m not too surprised you had a hard time finding covers that worked. 🙂 I agree with your choice, love those colors.

Yes, this was definitely a repeat and I really don’t know why – because I really struggled the first time! I have come up with a new list and I’m hoping that it makes things fresh.

I thought it was nice that you could interpret the theme in different ways. It being sci-fi month I went with the astronomical phenomenon 🙂
