Waiting on Wednesday 09/02/15

“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that lets us feature upcoming releases that we can’t wait to get our hands on!

Mogsy’s Pick:

Marked in Flesh by Anne Bishop: March 1, 2016 (Roc)

For various reasons I just couldn’t get into Anne Bishop’s The Black Jewels when I tried to read the first book. On the other hand though, I adore her urban fantasy. The Others is an excellent series with a truly unique premise. I read books two and three earlier this year, so I am now all caught up, not to mention very ready and pumped for this next installment.

Marked in Flesh“Fourth in the “flawless” (The Reading Café) New York Times bestselling series from the author of Vision in Silver.

For centuries, the Others and humans have lived side by side in uneasy peace. But when humankind oversteps its bounds, the Others will have to decide how much humanity they’re willing to tolerate—both within themselves and within their community…

Since the Others allied themselves with the cassandra sangue, the fragile yet powerful human blood prophets who were being exploited by their own kind, the delicate dynamic between humans and Others changed. Some, like Simon Wolfgard, wolf shifter and leader of the Lakeside Courtyard, and blood prophet Meg Corbyn, see the new, closer companionship as beneficial—both personally and practically.

But not everyone is convinced. A group of radical humans is seeking to usurp land through a series of violent attacks on the Others. What they don’t realize is that there are older and more dangerous forces than shifters and vampires protecting the land that belongs to the Others—and those forces are willing to do whatever is necessary to protect what is theirs…”

  1. I am so hyped for this one, you don’t even know. Well…maybe you do. 😉 Meg is one of my all-time favourite heroines, she’s just SO different from any protagonist I’ve ever read about before. Simon is awesome too, and I have a soft spot for Tess as well.

    • I actually have no idea. I don’t think I’ve seen Anne Bishop mention how many books, maybe the info is there to find in an interview somewhere though, I’ll have to check 🙂

  2. I remember back when the first book in The Others series came out, for whatever reason, I didn’t catch my fancy. It must’ve been something about the cover that made me kind of ignore it but that a few years down the line, the series was on EVERYONE’s favorites list and finally I clued in that I needed to add these to my tbr shelf. I still haven’t gotten into the series but I WILL. It kind of blows me away that it’s the fourth book coming out but anyway…I hope that you’ll love it just as much as it’s predecessors 🙂

    • Well, I came late to this series too. When the first book came out, I wasn’t interested at all, given my past experience with the author. But then I kept seeing good reviews and a blogger friend insisted I would love this, so I gave it a shot. Glad I did 🙂
