Most Anticipated Releases of 2021: April to June
The snow is melting, the grass is growing, and the days are finally getting warmer. It’s time to look ahead to the Science Fiction and Fantasy reads I’m most excited about in the months of April to June. Not only is it fun to organize my reading and to make lists, they also have the added benefit of focusing my attention to the highly anticipated releases that I’d like to check out. There’s already an impressive tower of books on my to-read pile, and while I’m under no illusions that I’ll be able to read them all, hopefully I can get to most of them (and also put some new books on people’s radars)!

My tbr doesn’t hate you, because I didn’t add anything that hasn’t been stacked already.
The Chambers book has already been published in March, though.
My personal highlight in the second quarter will be that I hopefully will be able to go back to my tbr instead of reading arcs! Which means older books, mostly.

The Chambers book has not been pubbed for us yet in the US – we have to wait an extra month after you guys in the UK/EU 🙂 Same goes for the Laura Purcell book, that one won’t be out for us until June but it was out in the UK in January.

Oh, I wasn‘t aware that the US could ever be later than we sorry guys in EU! I have to throw a feast!
Not. Because lockdown 😤

Haha, yes, every year you guys get some earlier than us – and sometimes you guys get books that don’t even get picked up by a US publisher until much later, if ever 😦 That’s when I usually have to resort to the Book Depository! 😀

I‘m nearly tempted to pity you. But then again, no 🤣

I’m expecting a release of Ada Palmer’s Perhaps the Stars. Would you have any news about it?

I haven’t heard about it, is that part of her Terra Ignota series? I’ve read the first book, but decided not to continue 🙂
LikeLike
Yeah it is the fourth and final book of the series. I think it is set to release in June.

I’m glad you’re enjoying the series! I found the first book very well written, but thematically it was definitely much too heavy and cerebral for me 😀

Haha that’s what I like about it. It is food for my pulsating space brain.

Fugitive Telemetry is the title I’m more excited for because there’s a Murderbot-shaped hole in my TBR waiting for more stories about our beloved SecUnit! 😀
LikeLike
Yes, I have my copy and I can’t wait to read it, but at the same time I’m reluctant because it’s so short and I know it’ll be over so fast and before long I’ll be dealing with said Murderbot shaped hole in my life as well 😛

I’ve been lucky enough to be granted the e-ARC recently and I started it as soon as I finished the previous book: what I can safely share is that the level of snark in Murderbot’s inner considerations has gone up several notches. Delightful… 😉

I’m always excited for a Becky Chambers release. 🙂

This quarter is so packed for me its very stressful to know I can’t read everything! A lot of these will be on my list next week as well 😁

I know, I didn’t realize how many books I had on tap for April until I made this list. It’s enough to make one panic! 😛

Two of these are standouts for me. I’m just about to start Network Effect, so Fugitive Telemetry will be next. And I’m looking forward to The Chariot at Dusk, can’t wait to see how that series ends. I’ll pick up the audiobook version as I’ve absolutely loved the narration of the first two.

I’ll probably be picking up the audio for Chariot at Dusk as well! And I’m so glad you’re enjoying that series, it doesn’t seem to be getting the attention it deserves and I hardly know anyone else reading it. You’re the only one other than myself, actually!

Ohh a new Katherine Addison?

I kind of rely on you and Tammy to keep me updated on coming SF haha! Near The Bone looks great to me, and I’m embarassed to admit I haven’t read the new Chambers yet. *hides*
We are Satellites catches my eye. I need to go look at some of these!

Still plenty of time to read the new Chambers! And I hope to pick up Near The Bone next, I’m feeling in the mood for some of her brand of dark fantasy/horror!

I actually got two copies of the Wayfarers book and had to publish two different (okay, they’re pretty much identical 😉 reviews of it in two different months. So far Instinct is okay, but I haven’t been blown away by it, but I still hope you get around to it. And I assume you’ve already read Fugitive Telemetry, so… how many more of these do you think you’ll get through before summer?

Did you get the different versions of the Chambers book? I know the UK got it last month, and their covers are always so pretty…
And no, I actually haven’t started Fugitive Telemetry yet – I’m actually reluctant to read it as it’s so short and I just know it’ll be over way too soon, and I’ll be left pining for more Murderbot once again. LOL does that even make any sense? 😛

I did! I was like “I MUST get my hands on this ASAP” and requested it from both the US and UK publishers apparently. Ooops.
Yup, that’s actually the reason I haven’t started it either! AND the reason I haven’t read Rhythm of War, Voidbreaker and some other things 😅

So satisfying seeing them all lined up like this – although it does make my immediate knee-jerk-reaction-want-all-the-books kick in massively.

That’s what happens when I look at book lists too. Followed by panic at not having time to read all the books 😀

For some reason I keep forgetting about the new Wells. I already have the Pinsker pre-ordered. I gotta stop looking before I get myself in trouble, I have a dozen books on pre-order already lololol

I think I will do the Pinsker book in audio – I have a similar list I keep on which audiobooks I need to request, lol!

Stop! Just stop! I know nothing about most of these but the covers alone make me want to read most of them…

Jasmine Throne, Fugitive Telemetry, and Blade of Secrets are probably the ones I’m most excited about! Curse NetGalley for rejecting my Blade of Secrets request….I really enjoyed The Shadows Between Us quite a bit!

Ah, I must have missed seeing Blade of Secrets on NetGalley, but I was thinking of maybe requesting the audiobook of that anyway.

It started out as Wish Only. I kept checking in on it and it finally switched to request. Alas, it was not meant to be! But I’ve got plenty of other goodies to keep me busy. 😊
