Friday Face-Off: Framed
Welcome to The Friday Face-Off, a weekly meme created by Books by Proxy! Each Friday, we will pit cover against cover while also taking the opportunity to showcase gorgeous artwork and feature some of our favorite book covers. If you want to join the fun, simply choose a book each Friday that fits that week’s predetermined theme, post and compare two or more different covers available for that book, then name your favorite. A list of future weeks’ themes are available at Lynn’s Book Blog.
This week’s theme is:
~ a cover featuring a FRAME
Mogsy’s Pick:
The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North
There were several ways to interpret this week’s theme, and we were free to choose any one we wished. I decided to go with the idea of a picture frame, and even though I haven’t read this particular book, I’ve been a fan of Claire North for years and The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August has been on my to-read list for years.
From left to right:
Redhook Paperback (2014) – Redhook Hardcover (2014) – PS Publishing (2017)
German Edition (2015) – Dutch Edition (2014) – Italian Edition (2017)
French Edition (2015) – Portuguese Edition (2017) – Danish Edition (2016)
Hebrew Edition (2016) – Persian Edition (2017) – Estonian Edition (2015)
Winner:
It might be the one I’m most familiar with, but the Redhook paperback also happens to be my favorite. I just love the visual effect with the frames, and it definitely makes the cover extremely eye-catching!
But what do you think? Which one is your favorite?
I haven’t read the book, but Persian and Portuguese editions are the ones that caught my eye 😀

Oh, a book I‘ve read and liked very much!
Your choice was good at first glance but then I noted the blurb statements – I hate those. They are ok on the back but shouldn’t come into the way on the front.
It’s the German version for me: Clean, connected to the content, innovative. The title doesn’t get blurred unreadable like some other covers.

Yes, those nested mirrors are very impressive and give a definite sense of… repetition 🙂

Oh, what a cracking choice – I think this is my favourite book in her iteration as Claire North, though to be honest I preferred her writing as Kate Griffin. I agree with your favourite, though I’m a bit torn, as I also very much like the Hebrew edition, too:))
