Friday Face-Off: Window
Welcome to The Friday Face-Off, a weekly meme created by Books by Proxy! Each Friday, we will pit cover against cover while also taking the opportunity to showcase gorgeous artwork and feature some of our favorite book covers. If you want to join the fun, simply choose a book each Friday that fits that week’s predetermined theme, post and compare two or more different covers available for that book, then name your favorite. A list of future weeks’ themes are available at Lynn’s Book Blog.
This week’s theme is:
“Windows to the soul?”
~ a cover featuring a WINDOW
Mogsy’s Pick:
The Night Before by Wendy Walker
If you’re nervous about online dating, The Night Before is definitely not the book to read. Pretty much every nightmare scenario you can think of is covered in this suspenseful thriller that will leave you guessing at every turn. If only more covers for the book reflect this nerve-wracking energy, but then maybe they just don’t want to give anything away…
From left to right:
St. Martin’s Press (2019) – Orion (2019)
Italian Edition (2020) – German Edition (2020)
Winner:
My pick this week is the Italian edition “Window” cover because…well, look how creepy it is! Seriously!
But what do you think? Which one is your favorite?
Ha it will be a hard one today! But yes I do prefer your choice.

Haha yeah it was tough, but I knew I would find something in my thriller pile 😀

The first two look like romance stories with some stock fotos. I wouldn’t buy the book for these covers. The Italian version seems to cover the topic very good. And I wouldn’t buy it, because I hate horror stories. The German… can’t connect to the title, it’s interesting.
Yes, I go with the Italian.

Sadly a lot of thriller/mystery covers look like the first two, and I find that such a shame! But maybe they all have that stock look because cover artists have no idea how to design them without giving any plot details away, so they all tend to be generic and vague 😛

Definately! The Italian edition has the creepy vibe. Very simple but very effective.

I think my favourite is the Orion one. I like the odd lighting of the figure. The Italian version majorly gives me zombie vibes for some reason??

It’s the most gripping one for sure…the other covers are pretty tame in comparison 😀
