2019 Rewind Challenge
I saw this challenge created by Tammy at Books, Bones and Buffy the other day, and as someone who is perpetually finding amazing books to read and trying to make a better effort at catching up on releases, I knew I had to get in on this. Basically, the 2019 Rewind Challenge involves tackling the books you might have missed out on when they first came out, but that you are still determined and desperate to read, and the goal is to read them by the end of the year.
You can choose as many books as you’d like, but I’ve decided not to go nuts and try for six – one for each month until the end of the year isn’t too unreasonable, is it? Completely doable!
I literally have dozens of books I need/want/have to read, but these are some that are high on my priority list that I really should have gotten to a while ago. A few of these also have sequels coming out this summer, and of course that has lit a fire under me. As well, my NetGalley TBR is starting to get out of hand and I want to knock a couple off that pile to bring my stats back up a bit.
But wait! I also want to add a second part to this challenge as motivation to help me read some early 2019 books released in the first three months of the year that I’m still very passionate about, but for whatever reason I just haven’t gotten to them yet. I’m already planning to read these, but tying them to this challenge will be a good reminder not to neglect them and also to push me to get them read and reviewed before December 31, 2019.
I’m pretty confident I can do this, and I’ve already packed a few of these books to go on vacation with me this week because I’m excited to get started right away. What are your thoughts on mid-year challenges, and could your TBR benefit from some type of “Rewind” challenge?
Love it! A Memory Called Empire is one I’ve been trying to get to for months, and it keeps getting delayed. Some day….

I did ruin on audio, and no no, not good.
I am also interested in the wolf, I had forgotten about that one

Oh drat, I was hoping to do Ruin in audio…I guess I still will, because it’s such a long book and these days those are best in audio format 😀

In audio it just felt weird cos it kep jumping in time and it did not flow. Hmm was it something about the narrator too? I can not remember

I’m planning on reading Fire and Blood for my Autumn Reading List. I’m really keen to read the history now!

Me too! It would be a nice change of pace from the novels.

Haha, you know me, I try to aim high, even though I usually fail miserably at these types of reading challenges! But I am going to make an effort this year!

I read Jade City, The Ruin of Kings, Fire & Blood and A Memory Called Empire and I honestly think all of them are worth your time, for different reasons.

Oh, my TBR would benefit hugely, but…! Ironclads was fun, and short. Jade City’s been on my stack for a while, too. Enjoy 🙂

Haha, yep, the short length of Ironclads is definitely a point in its favor – I’m like yay, I can knock that one out quick 😀

That’s a cool challenge! I’m a little tempted to jump in on it too.

You should! I saw this challenge and knew I had to do it, I’m a fan of anything that will help pare down my huge backlist tbr 😛

This is something I need to do! I’ve fallen behind in my reading a bit so have missed a few that I’ve had on my tbr forever. And my NetGalley percentage went from never falling below 90 to lately hovering around 76. 😕 Since I do most of my reading on my phone I really don’t have much of an excuse for not getting it done beyond the usual life stuff. On the bright side, at least I know I’ll not be running out of reading material anytime soon! Lol
P.S. Jade City is one of my favorite books! Seriously some of the best character development I’ve ever read in fantasy. I can’t wait to read Jade War!

I know the feeling, I feel like I’m constantly behind and falling behind even more by the day with all the great new releases each week. I also need to work on my NetGalley stats, for a long time I was also above 90 but now I’ve slipped to like 85 or thereabouts. I know that’s not bad but it’s going to keep slipping if I don’t do something! 😀

Very nice TBR pile there. I may check out this challenge myself! I was already planning on doing a backlist read for fall, if I make it an official challenge I feel like I’ll stick with it, LOL. Good luck!

Thanks! I most likely will but it won’t be until September. Looking forward to knocking out some more of my TBR pile!

I’m going to join in with this challenge – it will maybe push me to get to some of the books I’ve not yet managed to pick up.
Good lucky with yours.
I want that Titan Shades book – I keep waiting to see if it comes out in electronic format but so far nope.
