This was another book that caught my attention earlier this month as I was browsing Goodreads, and the pretty cover sure doesn’t hurt, either! Mainly, I am just so excited that there are trolls in this one.
“Onna can write the parameters of a spell faster than any of the young men in her village school. But despite her incredible abilities, she’s denied a place at the nation’s premier arcane academy. Undaunted, she sails to the bustling city-state of Hexos, hoping to find a place at a university where they don’t think there’s anything untoward about providing a woman with a magical education. Yes, it’s certainly different! Funny enough though, the Juliet Marillier audiobook I listened to just recently had a female troll protag too. Hopefully it’s a trend, lol!

OOoh nice! That’s a new to me one! Digging the cover! I love those kind of magical covers. They remind me of fairy tales as my collection of Grimm tales has a cover like this…though with less detail. Lol.

I can certainly see why that one caught your eye! And trolls…there are enough troll books out there. I love them and gargoyles so I’m excited to learn more about this book.

Yes, gargoyles are sorely lacking in fantasy. They were quite popular in UF a few years back, not so much now.

That cover is sooo up my alley. Anything with leafy patterns and a (near) dark fairy tale sort of synopsis will have me eating that book right up!
