“Can’t Wait” Books of Late 2018
So maybe you’ve heard, but I love lists. My day-to-day life might not be as organized as I would like, but I do enjoy creating book lists and putting together reading schedules because I’m a bit of a nut when it comes to things like that. It also has the added benefit of focusing my attention to the “must-read” releases that I’m excited about. Since I’ve already put together lists for Early and Mid-2018, I’ve decided to do it once more for the final four months of the year. Without further ado, these are the Science Fiction and Fantasy titles I’m really looking forward to in the rest of 2018…or at least, after I tried to narrow down the list. What’s on your late-2018 “Must-Read” TBR? Anything you think I missed?

I have Wildcard on my tbr and I plan at some point to try Angus Watson and Ezekiel Boone. In August I’ll be trying Sarah J Maas for the first time. Kill The Queen sounds intriguing and is on my wishlist!

Angus Watson is fantastic – just be prepared for things to get dark though! And I am curious about the new Ezekiel Boone. I didn’t enjoy the way his Hatching trilogy ended, but figured I would give his new one a chance 🙂

This year has been great so far wrh new releases an it looks to continue! I admit I am pretty bad at keeping track of what’s coming out down the road unless it’s something I’m super hyped about, so lists like this are really helpful for me! 🙂

I know, every year the crop of SFF looks better and better. I’ve had a really hard time keeping up this year because of all the amazing new releases. This is why I make these lists, to help focus me 🙂

I was pretty unimpressed with “United States of Japan” so I doubt I’ll even bother with that sequel. It looks wicked cool, but then, so did USoJ 😦
LikeLike
Yeah since this is a stand alone with no connection to the story of USoJ other than the fact it takes place in the same world, I’m hoping for something completely new. I mean, I enjoyed USoJ, but I think an entirely new perspective would be awesome too 🙂

So many good books here. I could add a ton to my wishlist (and a ton are there already). I am really excited for the new Charlaine Harris book and I just saw yesterday her Midnight Texas TV series is staring Season 2 in October. A good month all around!

Yeah, I’ve only read the first Sookie Stackhouse and sadly I missed Midnight Texas entirely, so I’m definitely not sitting out her next series!

Mecha Samurai Empire and The Monster Baru Cormorant are two books I CANNOT WAIT to have in my hands! 😀 😀

The former looks amazing and the latter is one I’m itching to get my hands on as well, since I loved the first book!

Wow, I don’t even know where to start with this list! I’m looking forward to so many of these, but Vengeful is probably my most anticipated:-)

Yeah, Vengeful should be fun! Fans have been waiting for a Vicious sequel for so long!

Ooooh, excellent list! Let’s see, I’m super excited for Keeper of the Bees, We Sold Our Souls, Wildcard, and Sisters of the Winter Wood. I’m also excited for Vengeful but I still have to read Vicious. I’m slowly working through the Throne of Glass series and hope to finish it in time to read Kingdom of Ash when it comes out, and I still have to read the first Baru Cormorant book. Oh, and I can’t wait for Empire of Sand! Soooo many good books on this list. 🙂 Our poor TBR stacks, lol.

I might have to read Vicious again, or at least find some place where I can get a good recap, because I’m not going to remember anything when I pick up Vengeful! It’s just been so long 🙂 And haha yeah, our poor TBR stacks indeed 😀

I should not have read this list, as now my TBR list is just going to skyrocket to oblivion.

Just to pick a few: the new Scalzi is going to be one of those compulsive buys that happen even without my conscious intervention 😀 and I’m quite intrigued by “Empire of Sand”: this title is popping up constantly in these past few weeks, so I kow the Universe is sending me a message…
And ending the year with the new Expanse book sounds like a great idea!

Yeah, buzz around Empire of Sand seems to be picking up lately. I hope it’s good! And I cannot wait to read the next Scalzi. I really enjoyed The Collapsing Empire.

So many books on here that I want – badly! I’m going to become a cat burglar and sneak into some publishing houses in the dead of night – nobody will be expecting that. It could be the perfect idea. 😀

An easy death sounds good! I read a good chunk of the Sookie Stackhouse nooks by the same author and enjoyed them 🙂
I can’t wait for Dragonshadow!!! Heartsone was amazing and I loved it and can’t wait for the sequel! November is sooooo far away!

Lists are just so fun to make. And it helps my stress a lot too, seeing everything laid out and organize like that 🙂 And yeah, Heartstone was great! I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us in book 2!

Awesome list! 😀 😀 Can’t wait for Vengeful, and am intrigued by Keeper of the Bees – I shall go and add these to my own lists … lists creating lists begetting lists … are the beautiful cycle of life! 😀

YASS! I love lists, too, and I’ve been just terrible lately at keeping track of what’s releasing. 😦 These look amazing! 🙂

Haha I love making lists too! Sadly though, my most anticipated release (the sequel to The Golem and the Jinni) was postponed to next fall, so I can’t come up with a list myself. 😭 However, Keeper of the Bees, Vengeful, and Wildcard are ones I’m keeping an eye on. I also like the covers of Lies Sleeping, Someone Like Me, and Sisters of the Winter Wood. 😉

Oh, The Golen and the Jinni sequel has been on my radar too, though I haven’t been keeping up with any news about it. Bummer about it being pushed back, but I guess that explains why I haven’t heard anything about it for so long!

It’s such a great book, I’ve been waiting for the sequel since 2014…😭

Vengeful! I’m super-excited about that one, too. A friend and I also bought tickets to V.E. Schwab’s Boston stop on her book tour, so I’m going to be outta-my-mind-EXCITED the first week of October. 😀
Funny thing about Fall 2018: Most of the books I’ve been looking forward to this year are coming out then. These are the ones I can remember off the top of my head:
– A Room Away From The Wolves by Nova Ren Suma
– Blanca & Roja by Anna-Marie McLemore
– How Long ‘Til Black Future Month by N.K. Jemisin (collection of her short fiction)
– Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor
– Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusak (not SFF, but I loved The Book Thief so I’m really excited about this one!)
– Fire and Blood by George R.R. Martin (I know it’s a “history” of the Targaryen family and not another ASoFaI book, but I’ll take it)

Nice! I hope you enjoy the author event with V.E. Schwab! And this year, most of my anticipated books were clustered around the May-August period. Needless to say, it was a crazy summer 🙂 I’m looking forward to the Fire and Blood book too! Yeah, it would have been better if it was the next ASOIAF book, but I think most of us have stopped holding our breath 😀
