Earlier this year, comic book writer Michael Moreci made the leap to novels with Black Star Renegades, his sci-fi debut that has been compared to Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy. Yeah, I remember for me it was a fine line between homage and rip-off, but can’t deny I had loads of fun reading!

No, that’s the Bobiverse trilogy by Dennis E. Taylor – another great sci-fi/humor series 😀

I remember a lot of the reviews for the first book put me off enough that I pretty much passed on this author. I’ll wait and see if this turns into a trilogy or series and judge it as a whole I guess.

Yeah, I had some misgivings about the first book too – mainly that as a homage, it still wandered a little too close into “rip-off” territory for my liking. The author has a ton of passion though, and the book was fun as hell, so I’ll give the sequel a go!

Cool, I hadn’t seen this yet. I had fun with the first book, I’m looking forward to more! Not sure about the cover, though. The art style is completely different and it’s a little…weird?
