“Can’t Wait” Books of Mid-2018
Lists. I love them! It’s fun to organize my reading and they also have the added benefit of focusing my attention to the “must-read” releases that I’m very excited to check out. After the list I made for “Early 2018”, I’ve decided to do it again for Mid-2018. So, without further ado, time now once more to geek out over these Science Fiction and Fantasy titles that are set to come out over the next few months, as we keep marching on ahead towards perfect beach-reading weather. Not sure how I’ll find the time to get to all of these, but uh, um, I’ll figure out a way…somehow. What’s on your mid-2018 TBR?
May
May 1 to May 7 – Song of Blood & Stone by L. Penelope, The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang, Only Human by Sylvain Neuvel, The Smoke Thieves by Sally Green
May 8 to May 14 – Blood Orbit by K.R. Richardson, Artificial Condition by Martha Wells, King of Ashes by Raymond E. Feist, Obscura by Joe Hart
May 29 to May 31 – LIFEL1K3 by Jay Kristoff
June
June 1 to June 11 – Bring Me Their Hearts by Sara Wolf, The Memory of Fire by Callie Bates, City of Bastards by Andrew Shvarts, Brief Cases by Jim Butcher
June 12 to June 18 – World of Warcraft: Before the Storm by Christie Golden, The Last Sun by K.D. Edwards, Starless by Jacqueline Carey
June 19 to June 25 – The Mermaid by Christina Henry
June 26 to June 30 – Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse, Drop by Drop by Morgan Llywelyn, Devil Sharks by Chris Jameson, The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul Tremblay, Star Wars: Thrawn: Alliances by Timothy Zahn, Mira’s Last Dance by Lois McMaster Bujold
July
July 1 to July 9 – Age of War by Michael J. Sullivan, Smoke and Iron by Rachel Caine, City of Lies by Sam Hawke
July 10 to July 16 – European Travel for the Monstrous Gentlewoman by Theodora Goss, Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik
July 17 to July 23 – Kill the Farm Boy by Delilah S. Dawson and Kevin Hearne, Competence by Gail Carriger, Mystic Dragon by Jason Denzel
July 24 to July 30 – Record of a Spaceborn Few by Becky Chambers
July 30 – Dreadful Company by Vivian Shaw
August
August 1 to August 13 – Bad Man by Dathan Auerbach, The Tower of Living and Dying by Anna Smith Spark, Temper by Nicky Drayden
August 14 to August 20 – The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden
August 21 to August 27 – Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett
August 28 to August 31 – Bloody Rose by Nicholas Eames
The Martha Wells novellas are near the top of my list, and the Sarah Beth Durst books, as well as 84k and possibly Lifelik3. Trail of Lightning looks awesome, and ooh Record of a Spaceborn Few is getting closer! Can’t WAIT for that one.

*Sigh* There are so many awesome books coming out this summer and so little time. I’m planning on dividing my own Can’t Wait post into May-July because I don’t think I can stuff them all into one post. 😀

I know! Why can’t there be all the time in the world to read all the books I want? I had to cull so many books from this list already, haha!

Great list! I’m really looking forward to so many of these! City of Lies is the standout debut I’m excited to read (but also am loving the reviews I’ve seen so far for The Poppy War)

I am finishing The Poppy War tonight. It is absolutely brilliant!

Just as an fyi, you have 2017 and 2016 instead of 2018 in a couple of instances in the first paragraph.
The only book that stood out to me was Carriger’s Competence. But even that was only because of the mustard yellow dress and umbrella.
Best of luck getting to any of them 😀

Thanks for pointing out. The perils of copying and pasting and then forgetting to change up the dates and links! I’d meant to do it later, but never got around to it before the post went live.

I figured it was a copy/paste thing 😀

Yeeeess. I love lists, too, and oh my goodness! What an awesome summer. I have trouble reading in the summer. Maybe these titles will help. 🙂

Yeah, I am too easily distracted by all these things happening in the summer. And that’s when there are a lot of new releases too!

It’s been a crazy year so far for awesome new releases, and it looks like that isn’t going to change anytime soon😁 May is OUT OF CONTROL. So many books I want to read as well, just a big YES to all of these!

“Artificial Conditions” and “Wrath of Empire” are at the absolute top of my list, and there are several interesting titles in your (oh, so rich!) list, but the one that stands out above all other is “The Cabin at the End of the World”: to say I’m beyond eager to read that one would be a massive understatement! 😀
Thanks for sharing!

Haha, I make these lists, but I probably only follow them like 75% of the time. But every little bit of organization helps me stay on task! 🙂

I keep forgetting that Naomi Novik’s got a new book coming out soon! I loved Uprooted and have been meaning to start her Temeraire series, so I need to make a point of pre-ordering Spinning Silver soon.
Apart from that… I think the only other summer novel on my radar is the final book in A.J. Hartley’s Alternate Detective series (I think it’s called Guardian?). As for Winter of the Witch: I got an email from Amazon earlier this week that the release date has been pushed back to January 2019. So I don’t think we’ll be reading it over the summer… Although I honestly don’t mind, since that series suits winter perfectly.
