“Can’t Wait” Books of Late 2017
So maybe you’ve heard, but I love lists. My day-to-day life might not be as organized as I would like, but I do enjoy creating book lists and putting together reading schedules because I’m a bit of a nut when it comes to things like that. It also has the added benefit of focusing my attention to the “must-read” releases that I’m excited about, so why not? I made lists for Early and Mid-2017 after all, so I’ve decided to do it once more for the final four months of the year. So here we go, these are the Science Fiction and Fantasy titles I’m really looking forward to in the rest of 2017…or at least I’ve tried to narrow down the list! What’s on your late-2017 “Must-Read” TBR? Anything you think I missed?

My only concern with Winter’s Daughter is that there has been no kickstarter yet and if he’s planning on releasing it in December, people need time to fund it. I want a hardcover and if there isn’t one, well, I suspect that Dulgath will then have been my last Sullivan…

Yeah, I’m a little concerned about that too, though it seems that it is all set to drop and all. I haven’t been following his updates, has he mentioned anything about pushing the release back?

I actually joined up on GR just to ask him about the kickstarter [his blog seems dead and he’s not even clearing out spam comments] and have not had any response. I asked on the book page of Winter’s Daughter, not his author page. I might go check that out as well.
I really hope he doesn’t push it back. But. I would rather have a hardcover later than no hardcover earlier. I liked how he handled the whole Dulgath kickstarter and was hoping this one would be similar. Doesn’t appear to be. Wondering if trying to do this AND his Age of Myth series is harder than he expected…

Yeah, I’m in his Goodreads group, and now that you mention it, I haven’t seen many updates from him there either. I know his last project was very popular on Kickstarter and funded way past the original goal, I wonder if he’s using some of the extra money or if he might just put it out there, and then set up another campaign to recuperate costs or fund the next couple of Riyria Chronicles.

Oh fantastic! That’s too bad about his negotiations falling through because that would have been so much easier, but I’m glad he’s got it covered. Thanks for letting me know 🙂

It’s INSANE how many books are coming out this fall that look fantastic! I’m actually at a point where I’m wondering if I’ll get through all the 2017 titles I’d been hoping to read before the end of the year. Some might have to be holdovers for 2018…
Regarding your list: I already have pre-orders in for the Rae Carson and Traci Chee books, and I won a Goodreads giveaway recently for The Beautiful Ones. And I’d love to check out An Enchantment of Ravens, Artemis, and The Tiger’s Daughter, but I’ll wait to read reviews on them first.

Yeah, the book releases usually slow down during the fall months, but haha, not this year apparently. I can’t believe how many books are coming out in September and October that are on my must-read list.
And oof, actually I should have included The Girl in the Tower on this post, but I had forgotten that they had pushed it up from a January release to a December one, right?

They did, yeah. I didn’t know about the new release date for The Girl in the Tower until I went to pre-order the book. I guess it’s a good thing that it’s coming out sooner…?

I may have slightly over committed myself when it comes to October ARCs… there’s just so many good books coming out!
I’m currently reading The Bloodprint (good so far, but I’m only a chapter or so in), and I just finished An Enchantment of Ravens (solid, but without that special spark that makes me really love a book). Others on your list I’m excited about include Provenance, An Unkindness of Magicians, The Stone in the Skull, Artemis, and Oathbringer.
Books not on your list I’m excited about include Under the Pendulum Sun (I read an ARC and it was fantastic), An Unkindness of Ghosts (similarly wonderful), The Murders of Molly Southbourne (Tade Thompson really impressed me with Rosewater), Forest of a Thousand Lanterns, The Weaver’s Lament, Barbary Station, Beasts Made of Night, and The City of Brass.

October is really insane! I’ve only completed a couple books so far in my September list, but we’ll see how long I can keep ahead of the release schedule 🙂

My most anticipated release out of all the books you mentionned is without a doubt Artemis by Andy Weir. I CANNOT wait for this one! 😀

This fall, especially October, is going to be insane.

Yeah, I’m really looking forward to Bear’s new book. I wasn’t as blown away by Leckie’s first trilogy as most everyone seemed to be, but I’m very curious about her new series.

I love these posts because it’s fun to see four months worth of book covers! I am looking forward to many of these as well, so I won’t list them all because we’ll be here all day, lol. But yes, so many awesome reads coming up through the end of the year. If only we had more days in the month to read them:-)

And my wishlist grows! Seriously, this is a great post and I see lots of books I already had on my list and a few I need to add. I was approved for a digital arc of the Kevin Hearne book just yesterday. So exciting!

This is a good list to see, as I want to read more SF/F as the year flies by! Invictus is one I want, and maybe I’ll finally try Sanderson too.

I’ll be spending September tackling a pile of books that have been on my tbr for a couple of years! I haven’t paid a great deal of attention to new releases but Kill Creek sounds kind of interesting as long as it isn’t too slow!

I love this list. Likewise I may have overcommitted slightly in the coming months – even though I was trying so hard to be good. There’s just such a lot to look forward to. I didn’t realise the Rachel Caine book was due out so quickly – definitely looking forward to picking that one up.
