Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson (November 14, 2017 by Tor)

It’s glorious.

“In Oathbringer, the third volume of the New York Times bestselling Stormlight Archive, humanity faces a new Desolation with the return of the Voidbringers, a foe with numbers as great as their thirst for vengeance.

Dalinar Kholin’s Alethi armies won a fleeting victory at a terrible cost: The enemy Parshendi summoned the violent Everstorm, which now sweeps the world with destruction, and in its passing awakens the once peaceful and subservient parshmen to the horror of their millennia-long enslavement by humans. While on a desperate flight to warn his family of the threat, Kaladin Stormblessed must come to grips with the fact that the newly kindled anger of the parshmen may be wholly justified.

Nestled in the mountains high above the storms, in the tower city of Urithiru, Shallan Davar investigates the wonders of the ancient stronghold of the Knights Radiant and unearths dark secrets lurking in its depths. And Dalinar realizes that his holy mission to unite his homeland of Alethkar was too narrow in scope. Unless all the nations of Roshar can put aside Dalinar’s blood-soaked past and stand together–and unless Dalinar himself can confront that past–even the restoration of the Knights Radiant will not prevent the end of civilization.”

  1. I don’t think I will be continuing with this series. It is THE series everyone reads so I like to be up on that but since the man can’t edit these down to a reasonable size I am not sure it is worth it for me anymore. I haven’t hated the first two, but I still can’t figure out the hype.

    • I have a feeling every volume in Stormlight is going to end up being 1000+ pages. I don’t mind so much, since it comes with the territory of loving epic fantasy. Audiobook might be the way to go in the future if I ever get tired of these gigantic tomes though.

  2. Yes, it is indeed glorious. Somehow, seeing the cover makes it all real. If there’s one book I’m desperately crosses my doorstep as an ARC, this is it.

  3. Another huge series that I may never get to. At least while I’m blogging, I feel like I can never take two or three weeks to read a book, and that’s probably how long it will take me to read these. But yes, that cover is wonderful, hope you love it!

  4. YAY! WoW twins 😀 This is my absolute favorite Sanderson series AND my favorite adult high fantasy series! The wait for this one has been painful but I know it’ll be worth it! That cover is stunning just like the previous two volumes too ♥

  5. Despite the fact that I own the first two books in this series, I’ve been very stubbornly avoiding them for reasons I don’t fully understand, hahaha. But after seeing the beauty that is this cover…dang. I gotta read like the wind!
