Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray (April 4, 2017 by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers)
So far the only books I’ve read by Claudia Gray have been her Star Wars novels, but that’s also how I came to discover how amazing she is. I’d love to try one of her YA novels some day, and already I have my eye on this one coming soon in the spring.
“Noemi Vidal is a teen soldier from the planet Genesis, once a colony of Earth that’s now at war for its independence. The humans of Genesis have fought Earth’s robotic “mech” armies for decades with no end in sight.
After a surprise attack, Noemi finds herself stranded in space on an abandoned ship where she meets Abel, the most sophisticated mech prototype ever made. One who should be her enemy. But Abel’s programming forces him to obey Noemi as his commander, which means he has to help her save Genesis–even though her plan to win the war will kill him.
Together they embark on a daring voyage through the galaxy. Before long, Noemi begins to realize Abel may be more than a machine, and, for his part, Abel’s devotion to Noemi is no longer just a matter of programming.”
I don’t think I’ve ever tried a book by this author but I heard the name

Ooh nice! I’m curious about this one but also hesitant. Space books can be so hit or miss for me sometimes. But I hope you love this one! Will look forward to your review!

I think they revealed it just recently, because I hadn’t seen it before this week either 🙂
And her Star Wars books are excellent, I hope I’ll love this one just as much.

Because of her SW novels I already know she’s one hell of a writer, so I’m hoping that will translate to her own YA 🙂

I’ve been trying to read a little bit more science fiction this year and this one sounds like a great one to try out. That cover is striking too! Thanks for sharing it!

This author is new to me, but the story sounds fascinating: for some reason I was reminded of Illuminae’s Kady Grant and the computer AIDAN… This story seems to have that kind of vibe to it 🙂

This sounds very interesting and as I’ve not rad this author before could be a perfect starting point.

Ah yes, teen soldiers. We’ll see how that goes! It certainly seems like a lot of YA is jumping onto the space opera and AI combo that worked so well for Illuminae.

I remember reading “Evernight” back in my teenage days, but I don’t remember what I thought of it. However, I will be interested to hear what you think of Defy the Stars! Love that cover!
